Hometown Holiday

in Utah

Dec 5 – 9, 2019

Savor the simple joys of Christmas in a small town.

Laugh until your sides hurt with friends who feel like family.

Be welcomed into this unique little dot on the map steeped in history, diversity, and beauty with a gentle reminder of what really matters.

Did you grow up playing ‘Night Games’, riding your bike around your neighborhood past dark, ‘visiting’ with neighbors and relatives around the kitchen table, or being allowed to go behind the counter of your neighborhood store to fill your own bag with candy? Then you probably grew up in a small town.

If you didn’t, I’m happy to lend you mine.

Price and Helper, Utah (two towns just six miles apart) are known for coal mines, railroads, immigrants, good food, mountains, rivers, deserts, diversity, and culture.

All of those are amazing, but they pale in comparison to the people.  You are welcomed in as family and treated like they’ve known you all your life.  Everyone has a story. Whether it’s true or not is another thing!

The coal industry has been the heart of Carbon County for hundreds of years. Are you brave enough to peek inside an actual coal mine? And hear accounts and stories from coal miners who’ve spent years in those dark and dangerous holes in the mountain?

Who doesn’t love a good ghost story or legend retold?

(Oh, and by the way, that handsome fella second from the left just happens to be my dad.)

Let’s explore the sweet little town of Helper on its First Friday’s Art Walk with music, food, and fun!

This old railroad town is undergoing a rebirth and being referred to by many as the new Park City of Utah as it blossoms with a variety of art galleries and cozy coffee shops popping up and lining the main street.

Our holiday festivities Saturday night kick off with a chili dinner at the civic auditorium followed by front row seats (lawn chairs, of course!) to the impressive array of floats and high school marching bands that make up the Christmas Electric Light parade, drawing in over 8,000 visitors each year.

But it’s not over yet.  The exclamation point at the end of the night is an awesome fireworks extravaganza!

Food, Friends, Family, and Fun!

The cultural melting pot makes this area a haven for amazing food. Not necessarily ‘fancy’ food, but good home cooking. How about some Italian pasta with a homemade sauce recipe that has been passed down for generations?

Leave this weekend with the skills and recipe to make homemade Potica, a delicious Hungarian holiday bread.  Our personal chef will treat us to a fun hands on baking demonstration, sending us home with our own loaf of this yummy delight!

Hear the story of how a creative outlet helped maintain  positivity and focus through a difficult time as my sister, Katy, shares her exhibit of stained glass work exclusively for our group and for the first time publicly.

Each piece has a story. Listen and be inspired as she shares her very personal journey with insights that are sure to help with struggles we all face from time to time.

As with all retreats, we’ll have our positive morning messages and discussions. In the spirit of the holidays and our visit to this special place, our messages will be based on ‘Finding and Fostering True Connection – All Year Long’.

No Holiday Retreat is complete without a Christmas Pajama Party, right? Let’s do it up right with one that’s chock full of food, entertainment, and lots of laughs! So, pack your onesie, and come ready to have a blast!

I also ave a couple other surprises up my sleeve that I’m sure you’re going to love!
